Serendipity may not be the right word but it is, err, convenient that a cocktail smoker I recently ordered arrived the same week COVID brought the day job to a screeching halt (corporate event planner) and sent NYC into a near quarantine/lockdown mode (lots of whiskey, no toilet paper to be found!).
My first attempt at a smoked cocktail is also my first attempt at using Cherry Heering, and its definitely made for the job! Love the way it pairs with the Averna here for a chocolate/cherry cola sort of finish.
2 oz. Anejo Tequila
.5 oz. Cherry Heering
1 dash Angostura bitters
Combine in your smoking vessel and stir. Fill vessel with mesquite smoke and seal. Stir and let sit for a minute or two. Strain into coupe glass and serve, no garnish.
