While there are numerous Bahama Mama recipes, this is the original recipe, along with a variation more coconut 🥥 based. Many have dropped the coffee liqueur ingredient, but I’m a bit more of a traditionalist.
1/2 oz Dark Rum (I used Myers)
1/2 oz Coconut Liqueur (I used Mr. Stacks, but others use Malibu Rum because it’s more readily available)
1/4 oz Coffee Liqueur (I prefer Tia Maria)
1/4 oz Overproof 151 Rum
1/2 oz Freshly Squeezed Lemon 🍋 Juice
4 oz Pineapple 🍍Juice
Strawberry 🍓 or Cherry🍒 garnish
Coconut Bahama Mama Variation
1 oz Coconut Rum
1/2 oz Dark Rum
1/4 Coffee Liqueur
2 oz Pineapple 🍍 Juice
2 oz Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and fill with ice.
Fill a chilled hurricane or similar glass about a third full with pebble ice and strain the shaker into the glass.
Garnish with a strawberry 🍓 or Maraschino cherry🍒 (I use two and a dash of Maraschino cherry juice)
