Food & Wine magazine is the source for this introduction to bourbon and Old Fashioneds. The bourbon will get your attention and it plays nicely with the Light Rum (I chose something with a vanilla hint to it) and Creme de Banana.
1 1/2 oz Evan Williams Bottled in Bond Bourbon
1 1/2 oz Tortuga Caribbean Vanilla Rum
3/4 oz Creme de 🍌 Banana
1 1/2 Dashes of Angostura Bitters
Orange 🍊 Peel Strip
In a mixing glass, fill all the ingredients except the garnish. Fill the mixing glass with large ice.
Stir until the cocktail is thoroughly chilled (30-45 stirrings should do it). Note: F&W says “stir for 5 seconds” but I’m guessing they were already drunk when they wrote their preparation notes.
Strain into a chilled old fashioned glass holding a single large ice cube. Express the orange 🍊 peel atop the cocktail and present as pictured.
