I've been wanting to do a barrel aged cocktail for a while. Decided on the Vieux Carre a favorite drink of mine. A bar in Vegas served a barrel aged version that was really killer. Aged in barrel for 7 weeks. Recipe was proportioned to make 5 liters. Holiday gifts for my friends.

Ingredients:
  • 1 oz Old Overholt Rye
  • 1 oz Park VS Cognac
  • 1 oz Carpano Antica
  • .25 oz Benedictine
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • 2 dashes Peychauds Bitters
Preparation:

Mix proper proportions to fill barrel, I used a 5L. Pour into barrel and taste every week after 4 weeks. Pull out of barrel and bottle when it tastes like you want. 6-8 weeks.

Pour 3 or more oz into mixing glass.
Stir with ice
Strain into rocks glass with large ice cube
Garnish with lemon peel
