Y’know how the great artists of the world are famous for going thru some period or another? I mean one went thru their “blue” period, another their “dark” period. I’m not a Renoir nor a Van Gogh (despite our shared name), but I’ve just went thru my blackberry period. No, no, not the once famed phone, but the fruit!
Once again the Educated Barfly has brought me to Tony Abou Ganim who presented this cocktail in his Modern Mixologist tome. If your true to the recipe, you’ll muddle 10 mint leaves, but I haven’t and this is a reminder that I need to get Mary on the mint train!
1 oz Limoncello
1 oz Creme de Mure Blackberry Liqueur
1 oz Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
4 blackberries (2 for muddling & 2 for garnish)
Muddle 2 blackberries gently in a cocktail shaker containing the remaining ingredients.
Add ice and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
Double strain into a chilled hurricane glass filled with pebble ice (man, since I moved I’ve been delinquent on keeping my ice at the ready!) and garnish with blackberries.
