Blood and Bourbon

About this Cocktail

Unlike the rose petals adorning this cocktail, there is nothing delicate related to this drink. Neither the bourbon or the blood orange are ready to take a back seat to the other, so it’s the lemon and simple syrup which coerce them to play nice. Kudos to Gastronomblog for publishing this recipe in early 2015.

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz Bulleit Bourbon
  • 1 1/2 oz Freshly Squeezed Blood Orange Juice
  • 1/4 oz Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 1 oz Simple Syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
Preparation:

Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and fill with ice.

Drain into a chilled rocks or medium sized cocktail glass without ice cubes (if you prefer, a single large cube will work too).

Garnish with a blood orange slice or Wheel.
