Blood and Sand

About this Cocktail

From the 1922 film of the same name starring Rudolph Valentino comes the aptly named “Blood and Sand”; first appeared in Harry Craddock’s “Savoy Cocktail Book” in 1930.

Ingredients:
  • Equal parts:
  • Cherry Heering
  • Scotch (Johnnie Walker Black)
  • Sweet Vermouth (I’ve used Noilly Prat but Carpano Antica is an excellent alternative)
  • Freshly squeezed Orange Juice
  • Orange peel (garnish)
  • Brandied Cherry (garnish)
Preparation:

Add all into a shaker with ice.
Double strain into a chilled coupe or cocktail glass.
Garnish with Luxardo cherry and orange peel
