About this Cocktail

Stolen from Esquire magazine.

Ingredients:
  • 2 shots (2 to 3 oz) espresso
  • 1 tsp rich simple syrup
  • 1 oz strong, funky rum
Preparation:

"Fill the shaker with ice, shake vigorously and strain into a large, chilled 1950's style martini glass. Garnish, if you're the garnishing type, with a little strip of lemon peel. Consider adding 1/2 oz cream which will, paradoxically, reduce the foam. Imagine you're in a piazza. Or beyond."

Made this with Old Monk rum and 2 lungo espresso shots (close to 2oz each). Went slightly heavier on simple syrup and added full cream milk once in the glass. Really good.

Oops. Meant to say "2 lungo espresso shots for 3 servings. ie 4oz espresso total to 3oz rum".
