About this Cocktail

I was so eager to try this North Carolina amaretto gifted by owner Anthony Scalabrino, an Italian legacy recipe & Italian owner! I knew this would be great. In collaboration with @oakcityamarettoco Oak City Amaretto, here's my riff on the Crimson Kiss. Some may think of amaretto as sweet, but this works perfectly in balance between Anthony's amaretto recipe from 'Grandma Scale and the remaining ingredients.

You could use pomegranate juice, but I punched it up with PAMA instead. I, along with friends, blind tasted the Oak City Amaretto & another common brand - Oak City was a near unanimous winner with its almond, molasses & hint of cherry. A closer look at the label reflects veteran ownership based on Anthony's US Navy service. As of now, Oak City Amaretto can be found throughout North Carolina.

  • 1 oz Oak City Amaretto
  • 1 oz Vanilla Vodka
  • 1 1/2 oz Cranberry Juice
  • 1/2 oz PAMA Pomegranate Liqueur
  • 1/4 oz Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 3 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • Egg White
  • Raspberry garnish
  • Lemon twist optional garnish

Combine all but the garnish into a cocktail shaker and dry shake for 30+ seconds

Add ice, shake again and double strain into a chilled Nick and Nora glass.

Garnish with a raspberry on a dress tooth pick (optionally, garnish with a lemon twist).
