Tinkering with digestif ideas led me to craft a White Lucien Gaudin type of drink in the style of a White Negroni. Instead of gin, I felt the Malört would be complemented by mezcal's vegetal and smoke notes. Keeping with the Lucien Gaudin theme, I dubbed this one after the Iberian school of fencing.
1 oz Mezcal
1 oz Lillet Blanc
1/2 oz Clement Creole Shrubb (or other orange liqueur)
1/2 oz Baska Snaps Malort
Stir with ice, strain into a cocktail coupe, and garnish with an orange twist.
