First mentioned in Hugo Ensslin’s ‘Recipe for Mixed Drinks’ (1917), there’s also mention by Simon Difford in the 1930’s. I’ve added one thing to the very simple recipe, something to tame the sweetness a bit: the addition of two drops of Dashfire Lime Bitters. While I have been gifted a handful of Dashfire Bitters, they have not asked a single thing of me. As a fan of their Mr Lee’s Ancient Chinese Secret Bitters from when I first saw it on one of Steve the Bartender’s videos, I reached to them & found an incredible assortment of Bitters (among other things) in the most elegant of bottles. I have never accepted money from a vendor/supplier, so my urging
is to visit their website & in the moment, see my 2nd pic to see the bottle right now.
Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and dry shake for 30+ seconds.
Add ice and shake again for 10+ seconds.
Double strain into a chilled martini glass & garnish with a Liberco Dehydrated Lime Slice (or 2, if your my wife and she wants a second one for composition balance).
