About this Cocktail

Hawaiian Sunset is a rare vodka-based tiki cocktail, hailing from the now-defunct Aku Aku Polynesian Restaurant at the Stardust Hotel in Las Vegas. The recipe was reprinted in the Smuggler’s Cove book. Opened in 1960 & closed 20 years later, the restaurant was very popular while it was open & many a tiki cocktail was created there. I riffed a bit here and used a flavored vodka in lieu of the standard vodka for a fruitier alternative.

  • 1 1/2 oz Svedka Raspberry Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Orgeat
  • 1/2 oz Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 1/2 oz Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 1 tsp Grenadine

Combine all ingredients into a cocktail shaker and fill with ice.

Shake thoroughly until well chilled, strain and serve up in a chilled cocktail glass. Alternatively, a dirty dump will work as well.

Note 📝: There is no garnish listen in the recipes I found, but I find it difficult to accept there wasn’t some flamboyance from a Lad Vegas born cocktail!
