I set out to make a true summer garden drink and this one came together so quickly and tasted so delicious that it must have been heaven sent.
2 oz Green Tea-Infused Jameson Black Barrel
0.75 oz Lemon Sherbet
0.5 oz Grapefruit Juice
0.5 oz Lemon Juice
0.33 oz Pamplemousse Liqueur
0.25 oz Blackberry Cordial
3 drops Bittermens Hopped Grapefruit Bitters
3 drops Eucalyptus Tincture
2 drops Hibiscus Tincture
3 thin slices of cucumber
Muddle cucumber in shaker. Add everything plus ice, shake, and fine strain into a Collins glass over fresh ice. Garnish with a thin peel of cucumber.
*Green Tea-Infused Jameson Black Barrel
Add 2 Tablespoons of high-end loose leaf green tea (I used some great hand smoked stuff) and one 750ml bottle of Jameson Black Barrel Whiskey to a large canning jar. Let steep for at least an hour (or more for stronger flavor). Strain out leaves and pour back into a bottle.
- 8 Lemons (peeled)
- 1.25 cups Sugar
- 10 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
Prepare an oleo-saccharum by muddling the lemon peels with the sugar. Once you see the oils and sugar starting to create a mash, let sit for 30 minutes. Add oleo-saccharum and lemon juice to a saucepan over medium heat but don’t boil. Keep stirring to dissolve the sugar. Once it’s started to thicken, remove from heat, let cool, and strain into a bottle. It should keep for 2-3 weeks in the refrigerator.
Prepare a simple syrup by adding 1 cup superfine sugar to 1 cup of water in a saucepan over medium heat. Don’t boil but keep stirring until sugar is completely dissolved. Muddle 6 ounces of Blackberries and add to the simple syrup. Let the mixture sit on low heat for a few minutes. Remove from heat and once cool, fine strain into a bottle. Add 1/4 ounce Everclear and 1/4 oz Orange Flower Water. Give it a good shake and you’re all set. This should keep 2-3 weeks refrigerated.
*Eucalyptus and Hibiscus Tinctures
- 1 oz Dried Eucalyptus leaves
- 1 oz Hibiscus Flower Powder
- 9 oz Everclear
- 9 oz Water
Add Dried Eucalyptus Leaves / Hibiscus Flower Powder to separate jars and add 4.5 oz of Everclear to each one. Seal the jars and allow to macerate for 3 days. Once finished, strain both tinctures into a fresh bottle then add 4.5 oz of water to each. Both of these, due to the alcohol content, should keep indefinitely at room temperature.
