About this Cocktail

This is the drink that Hemingway made famous, and that can cost you a first mortgage if you order it at the Ritz Carlton in Paris. The Ritz version is made with a champagne Cognac from between 1830-1870.

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 oz Cognac (or good brandy)
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 3/4 fresh lemon juice
  • Powdered sugar
Preparation:

Pour all ingredients into cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into stemmed cocktail glass with a sugar-lined rim.
