I was inspired by the Rocket from Pioneers of Mixing at Elite Bars. I swapped the base and aromatized wine from brandy and sweet vermouth to apple brandy and Lillet/Cocchi American, and I added a smoky element via a dash of mezcal.
1 1/2 oz Apple Brandy
1/2 oz Swedish Punsch
1/2 oz Lillet Blanc or Cocchi Americano
1/4 oz Mezcal
1/4 oz Amer Picon (or similar liqueur like China-China)
Stir with ice, strain into a cocktail glass (here, a punch cup), and garnish with an orange twist.
