A friend gave me a bowl of kumquats from her tree, and I figured there’d be a way to incorporate them into a cocktail. My first thought was something with Gin, but then I saw this recipe and wanted to give it a try.
Muddle the mint, kumquats and 1/4 oz tequila in a shaker until the kumquats have mostly broken down. Add the remaining tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, Grand Marnier, and a dash or two of Angostura bitters, then shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
Rim a rocks glass with salt, then add a nice clear cube of ice. Double strain into the glass and garnish with sliced kumquat and a lime wedge.
