"A true Little Italy is made with Rittenhouse 100-Proof rye, but I’ve found it to be quite pleasant with a high-proof bourbon, such as J.T.S. Brown Bottled-in-Bond. The resulting cocktail is a sweet, forest-y, stiff little number that’s a nice, slight departure the standard Manhattan."
2 ounces high-proof bourbon or rye, depending on your preference
3/4 ounce sweet vermouth
1/2 ounce Cynar
Combine everything in a stirring glass (or pint glass) filled with ice and stir for half a minute or so, until the beverage is well-chilled. Strain into a coupe glass, garnish with a cherry or strip of lemon zest if you wish to indulge with a fourth ingredient, and enjoy.
