About this Cocktail

This drink was described by Mark Twain in a letter he sent to his wife in January, 1874 from London. He mentions enjoying one every day before breakfast, dinner, and going to bed, and asks that the ingredients be made available to him in the bathroom upon his return home.

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 oz blended Scotch
  • 3/4 oz lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz rich (2:1) simple syrup
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
Preparation:

Shake and strain.
