I created this drink while ordering a Negroni, I spontaneously decided to switch out the Vermouth for Amaro Montenegro. The bartender asked me, "are you sure you don't mean to switch it for the campari?" I said "Nooooo, i mean the vermouth, it's gonna be good!" And it was. I serve this all the time behind the bar i work at with great success. Now when I ask for a Montenegroni here in Montreal, some bartenders already know what I'm talking about. It makes me proud.
Stir in a mixing glass
Serve in a chilled coupette
Garnish with a lemon zest
