A twist on the Naked & Famous cocktail.
I came up with this idea while working an a drink menu for New Year's Eve. I am mildly obsessed with spicy liqueurs lately, and decided to replace the Yellow Chartreuse component with Ancho Reyes Chile liqueur, and swap in Del Maguey's Crema De Mezcal in lieu of Vida/Chichicapa, to bring in a touch of sweetness to all the spice. I was pretty happy with the initial result, but others noted it was pretty spicy for them. I slightly reduced the Ancho and added a touch of agave nectar, as well as switched the mezcal component back to Vida... (which works out better due to the difficulty of obtaining the Crema here in Maine, as well as the fact I was running out).
Current recipe is as follows:
3/4 oz Del Maguey Vida mezcal
3/4 oz Aperol
3/4 oz lime juice
1/2 oz Ancho Reyes Chili liqueur
1/4 oz agave nectar
Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into cocktail glass.
