Negroni Sour

Yo Dawg I put a cocktail in your cocktail, so you can drink while you drink.

So, this is a very interesting technique I found from a local bartender here in Portland named Douglas Derrick. What he's done here is he batched a Negroni and then made a classic Sour using the Negroni itself instead of a single spirit. Really great drink, nice twist on the Negroni, and could really see applying the same technique to any number of stirred drinks. How about a Hanky Panky Sour? Or a Rye Manhattan Sour?


  • 2 oz Negroni Batch (Navy strength Gin, Campari, Sweet Vermouth)
  • 1 oz Lemon Juice
  • .5 oz 2:1 Simple Syrup
  • 1 Egg White

Dry shake, shake hard with ice, and strain into chilled coupe.

    Saw this and immediately had to make one. Went with Tanqueray, Campari and Carpano. No 2:1 simple on hand so subbed out 2:1 Demerara syrup. Very very nice! Won't replace my traditional Negroni any time soon, but pretty awesome nonetheless. And Negroni week just around the corner!
