It turns out that bourbon, Fernet-Vallet and Dry Curaçao also work just fine, so don’t get too hung up on brands, especially during These Times. I used Cointreau & Cynar and it came out great.

Ingredients:
  • 2 ounces whiskey (bourbon or rye)
  • 1/4 ounce orange liqueur (1/2 an ounce if you’re using Dry Curaçao)
  • 1/4 ounce Fernet (whatever you happen to have - I used Cynar)
Preparation:

Add everything to a mixing glass filled with ice and stir until chilled. Drain into a lowball with a big rock and enjoy. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and an orange twist if you're so inclined.
