So I’m searching for a cocktail to make one day and come across Chris’ “Outrigger”—ok, yeah I’m familiar with the name but the recipe didn’t strike me as what I expected. Chris had found it in a book somewhere. So after some research I find the more famed Outrigger recipe of Aged Rum, Triple Sec & Lemon Juice. So, what did I do? Simple, I did a reshake of Chris’ recipe. And here it is...
1 oz Bacardi Light Rum
1/2 oz Amaretto di Saroono
1 1/2 oz Cranberry Juice
1 1/2 oz Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
1 oz Raleigh Dark Rum (float)
Dehydrated Orange 🍊 Garnish
Surf Side Sips Straw
Optional Umbrella 🌂
Combine all but the Dark rum float into a cocktail shaker and fill with ice (you can build this in a glass if you prefer, but if I’m using any freshly squeezed citrus I want to strain for pulp & seeds).
Shake vigorously until well chilled and double strain into a chilled hurricane or tiki glass.
Garnish with a dehydrated orange and add an umbrella and an eco-friendly Surf Side Sips “glass bamboo” straw.
