A reshake of a Jeffrey Morganthaler cocktail recipe dating back to February 2007. Obviously it’s not super pink, it’s actually more orang-ey. As a matter of fact, the maestro’s recipe called for Mathilde Creme de Casis and I tried it, so redid it with Mathilde Framboise (Note to Doug: that’s an “e” on the end, thereby phonetically making the sound “bwaz” - just sayin’). Pinker, but not much. So my reshake is a tiny riff - enjoy either way.
2 oz Aviation Gin
3/4 oz Mathilde Framboise (or Creme de Casis if you want to be loyal to the original, I wasn’t)
1/2 oz Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
2 tsp Simple Syrup
Garnish with lemon wedge or flowers
Combine all but the garnish into a cocktail shaker and shake.
Double strain into a chilled coupe, cocktail or Nick and Nora glass. (I chose the latter just cause it’s my favorite)
Garnish with a 🍋 wedge or flowers 🌸. (I chose the latter because damnit, something needed to be pink!)
