About this Cocktail

During this early spring cold snap here in Memphis, I took some time to riff on AQ's Prey of Thieves cocktail. Locally roasted coffee and chicory tincture, Madeira in place of port, and a high proof bourbon in for scotch. A regionally inspired cold weather warmer for an unseasonably cool evening.

Ingredients:
  • 1.5 oz High proof bourbon (I used E.H. Taylor Single Barrel)
  • .75 oz Madeira (I used a Sercial from the Rare Wine Co.)
  • .25 oz Benedictine
  • 1 Bar spoon chicory coffee tincture
Preparation:

Build all ingredients in mixing glass. Stir over ice and strain into tulip or cocktail glass. Garnish orange peel.
