Saratoga Julep

About this Cocktail

Inspired by the Prescription Julep, I made a minty creation out of one of my favorite rye-brandy drinks, the Saratoga from Jerry Thomas 1862. Sweet vermouth here subs for the sugar and Angostura only helps to complement the mint flavors!

Ingredients:
  • 1 oz Rye Whiskey
  • 1 oz Cognac
  • 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
  • 2 dash Angostura Bitters
  • 8 leaf Mint
Preparation:

Muddle the mint in the sweet vermouth in a Julep cup, add rest of ingredients and crushed ice, and stir. Top with crushed ice, garnish with mint sprigs, and add a straw.
