About this Cocktail

I’m a big fan of Aquavit, which to me is a relatively new liquor I never really used up until last year. I wish I would have tried it sooner though because it’s a very rich and intriguing flavor when used in cocktails. Here’s my ode to Aquavit!

Ingredients:
  • 1.5 oz Aquavit
  • 1 oz Black Currant Mead
  • 0.5 oz Fresh Grapefruit Juice
  • 0.5 oz Fresh Pineapple Juice
  • 0.25 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 0.25 oz Grapefruit-Cinnamon-Honey Syrup
  • 0.25 oz Chamomile Tincture
  • Bar spoon Pineapple Cordial
  • Spritz of Campari
Preparation:

Shake everything except Campari with ice in a shaker, fine strain into a chilled coupe, garnish with a thin lemon wheel, and spritz with Campari. Og selvfølgelig, nyt!

*Grapefruit-Cinnamon-Honey Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 cup Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice
- 3/4 cup Clover Honey
- 3 Cinnamon Sticks
Crush the cinnamon sticks and add to grapefruit juice and honey in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the mixture is properly fused. Let the syrup simmer and steep for about 15-20 minutes. Remove from heat and once cool, strain out cinnamon pieces into a bottle. The syrup should keep 2 weeks refrigerated.

*Chamomile Tincture
Ingredients:
- 1 oz Dried Chamomile Flowers
- 4.5 oz Everclear
- 4.5 oz Water
Put Chamomile Flowers and 4.5 oz of Everclear in a jar, seal it and allow to macerate for 3 days. Once finished, strain into a fresh bottle then add 4.5 oz of water. Due to the alcohol content, this tincture should keep indefinitely at room temperature.

*Pineapple Cordial
Ingredients
- 8 oz Fresh Pineapple Juice
- 2 cups Water
- 3/4 cup superfine sugar
- 1 Cinnamon stick (crushed)
- 1/4 oz Everclear
Heat Pineapple Juice, water, sugar, and cinnamon in a saucepan over medium heat but do not boil. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and once cool, strain into a bottle. Add Everclear, and give it a good old shake, shake, shake Señora! Shake your body line! Okay, I believe you!
