About this Cocktail

I’ve never really used Shochu before but I’m definitely going to now! Here’s my take on a martini but the end result is nowhere near one.

Ingredients:
  • 2 drops Bittermens Burlesque Bitters
  • 4 Drops Lemongrass Tincture
  • Bar spoon BG Reynolds Lush Grenadine
  • ¼ oz Tropical Spice Syrup*
  • ¼ oz Bittermens Tepache
  • ½ oz Byrrh Grand Quinquina
  • ½ oz Lemon Thyme-Infused Cocchi Americano
  • ¾ oz Suntory Toki Whiskey
  • 1½ oz Hibiscus-Infused Shochu
Preparation:

Stir everything with ice and strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Express the peel of an orange over the drink, rub the peel around the rim, and then discard.

*Hibiscus-Infused Shochu
1.5 Tbsp Hibiscus Tea
1 750ml bottle Shochu
Combine in an airtight container for 2 hours and then strain into a bottle.

*Tropical Spice Syrup:
1 Pineapple (Rind & Core)
1 dried chipotle pepper
1 Cinnamon stick (crushed)
1 Star Anise (crushed)
Handful Cloves (10-15)
1.5 cups Water
1.5 cups Sugar
Bring everything to a boil except sugar, and let simmer for 2 hours. Strain out solids and return water to saucepan, adding sugar, and stirring frequently until the sugar is completely dissolved. Bottle, label and refrigerate.
