A new cocktail for Sizzle Pie’s Fall 2018 menu:

We were going for a horror themed cocktail list and this Tequila/Mezcal drink is my paean
to Dario Argento’s 70’s classic ‘Suspiria’

  • 0.75 oz El Jimador Reposado Tequila
  • 0.5 oz Del Maguey Vida Mezcal
  • 0.5 oz Aperol
  • 0.75 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 0.5 oz Cinnamon-Clove Syrup
  • 0.25 oz Dry Vermouth
  • Spritz of Absinthe (in glass)

Shake everything with ice and fine strain into a cocktail coupe that’s been spritzed with Absinthe. Garnish with a lime wedge.

* Cinnamon-Clove Syrup
- 2 cups Water
- 2 cups Granulated Sugar
- 2 Cinnamon sticks (crushed)
- 2 tsp Whole cloves
Crush Cinnamon sticks with a mallet/muddling stick, add to medium saucepan along with cloves, water, and sugar over medium-low heat. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved then turn off heat. Let cinnamon and cloves steep for 15-20 minutes more then, once cool, strain out solids into a container. This syrup should keep 2-3 weeks refrigerated.
