About this Cocktail

Not too long ago, back in May, What’s Marisa Drinking sparked a conversation of the question regarding the use of ‘a drop of blue’ food coloring in lieu of either Blue Curaçao or BPT (on steroids). I weighed in with basically, “Why not?”. Some purists balked, but the last thing I am is pure. So here’s mine...and regardless of the color dispute, the darn thing tasted superb! My pictures are before the Lime garnish went into the drink, and when it came out some Cobalt Blue color, a name and drink was born!

  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 3/4 oz Stallings Ginger Liqueur
  • 1 1/2 oz Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
  • 1 1/3 Simple Syrup w/ ONE drop of food coloring
  • Lime Wedge garnish

Combine all but the garnish into a cocktail shaker and shake vigorously until chilled.

Strain over a single large ice cube sphere into a chilled (preferably smaller) rocks glass.

Garnish with the lemon wedge and warning that the blue dye on the lime will do the same to your 👄, mouth, utensils and shakers, so rinse everything!
