About this Cocktail

From "My Man's Belly", a different use of Creme de Violette aside from endless gin drinks. Original recipe here: http://mymansbelly.com/2011/03/11/springtime-in-a-glass-the-boulevard-cocktail/

This version, using Tempus Fugit's Creme de Violette, which is less sweet than most, has a Creme de Violette float, because TF's doesn't sink, having a lower specific gravity than most sweeter CdVs.

Also, the amount of agave made the cocktail unaccountably sweet to my taste, so cutting that down, and with 3 oz total booze in the original recipe, I've scaled down by half. And, I also did some household subs due to lack of some ingredients.

Calamansi tincture: http://barnotes.co/recipes/homemade-calamansi-bitters-infusion

Ingredients:
  • 1 oz Stoli vodka
  • 1/4 oz St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
  • 3/8 oz fresh squeezed meyer lemon juice
  • 1/4 oz agave syrup
  • 3/8 oz Creme de Violette
  • 1 spritz of calamansi tincture from an atomizer
  • 1 dash of Bitter Truth Orange bitters
Preparation:

Pre-chill 4 to 5 oz coupe glasses. Shake vodka, St. Germain, lemon juice, calamansi tincture, and orange bitters with ice. Pour through shaker top into glass. Use spoon to float Creme de Violette on top.
