The Count Rides Again

About this Cocktail

My Rum Negroni and 1934 Zombie hybrid; the name is a nod to Count Camillo Negroni who had a career in the U.S. as a cowboy before returning to Italy to created the three part wonder.

  • 3/4 oz Funky White Overproof Rum
  • 1/4 oz Demerara 151 Proof Rum
  • 1 oz Campari
  • 1/2 oz Don's Mix (2 parts Grapefruit Juice : 1 part Cinnamon Syrup)
  • 1/2 oz Falernum
  • 1 bsp Grenadine
  • 1 dash Angostura Bitters
  • 6 drop Absinthe

Stir with ice, strain into a rocks glass with ice, and garnish with a grapefruit twist (orange would work too).

For the first rum, Wray & Nephew or Rumfire would work well (Smith & Cross would too despite being aged). Also, a rhum agricole would do fine. The rums need to be flavorful to get noticed in this densely flavored drink.
