About this Cocktail

I wanted to try my hand at floating olive oil as a garnish, and this is the drink I came up with:

  • 1 smoky scotch rinse
  • 3 oz London dry gin
  • .5 oz dry vermouth
  • 1 cornichon
  • 1 green olive
  • 1 cocktail onion
  • 2 dashes mushroom tincture
  • 2 dashes balsamic vinegar
  • 2 dashes olive oil
  • 1 pinch of salt

Chill a cocktail glass and then rinse the glass with the smoky scotch.

Stir the gin and dry vermouth over ice and strain into the prepared cocktail glass. Garnish with the cornichon, olive & onion. Finish with two drops of mushroom tincture, two drops of balsamic vinegar and lastly the olive oil — which should float on top of the drink.

For the mushroom tincture I used a Shiitake mushroom tincture made by Green Heron Growers.
