I've been working through Kingsley Amis' "Everyday Drinking," and one cocktail he describes (for which he named his famous character) is The Lucky Jim, which is vodka, dry vermouth, and cucumber juice. I bought a cucumber, mutilated it with my antique juicer, and then realized I was out of dry vermouth (too many Gibsons, I suppose). So I winged it, and it turned out refreshing and not half-bad.
Juice a cucumber. I used a traditional juicer, and it yielded very little juice. If you have a juicer machine, I'd recommend using that. Strain the juice through cheese cloth.
Stir all ingredients and strain. Serve up with a cucumber slice to garnish.
