About this Cocktail

I wanted to create a cocktail that captured the essence of a group of friends that go by the same name, and this is the recipe they chose. I played on the 1930’s crime era by using Bulliet Rye and 19 Crimes Red Wine.

Ingredients:
  • 2 oz. Bulliet Rye
  • 1/2 oz. Vanilla syrup
  • 1/2 oz. 19 Crimes Red Wine (float over cocktail in glass)
  • 2 spritz Absinthe
  • Orange peel
Preparation:

Stir the rye and vanilla syrup in a mixing glass filled with ice. Using an atomizer, spritz a chilled rocks glass twice with absinthe then add ice. Strain the rye and syrup into the glass. Add two cocktail straws, then float the wine over the surface of the cocktail (adding the straws last may disturb the wine float). Twist the orange peel over the drink, then carefully place it on top of the wine float.
