White Rene

About this Cocktail

A riff on the Black Rene from Pioneers of Mixing at Elite Bars: 1903-1933 that called for Cognac, aged rum, and lemon; here, I opted for unaged brandy (pisco), white rum, and lime with the only variable held constant being the Maraschino liqueur. I was inspired by a local bartender's conversion of the Playboy drink book's Black Devil to the White Devil. Circa Spring 2013.

Piscos, especially Macchu Pisco, pair rather well with Maraschino which also helped move me in that direction.

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 oz Pisco
  • 1/2 oz White Rum
  • 1/2 oz Maraschino Liqueur
  • 1/2 oz Lime Juice
Preparation:

Shake with ice and strain into a cocktail glass.
