A variation on the Sam Ross original replacing the Amaro Nonino with Cynar and substituted Rye for Bourbon. Why? Because Cynar is delicious and it was staring me in the face. Resulting cocktail is just different enough that I see making them both again in the near future.
1 oz. Rittenhouse Rye
1 oz. Cynar
1 oz. Aperol
1 oz. fresh lemon juice
Mix ingredients in a shaking tin over ice (1 big cube if available) and shake like a mofo. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a lemon peel (or don't...who am I to tell you what to do?).
NOTE: Double strain the lemon juice (which I didn't do) for a clearer finished product.
